Color models are abstract models that describe how colors are represented by individual color components. RGB (red green blue) is a model made up of the three primary colors, and can be used in image displays via VGA (video graphics array) technology.

  1. RGB

    • RGB colors can combine to generate a broad range of colors, which are used to represent images in electronic systems, such as computers and televisions. RBG adds three light beams together. The light from these beams combine wavelengths to form the final color's spectrum, or array of light.

    VGA

    • VGA technology is an analog interface, or connection device, used between a computer system and monitor, or other display device. VGA hardware is used to facilitate a digital signal which enables a display device to show an image. VGA refers to a specific resolution, or level of information displayed, of 640-by-480 pixels. Pixels are the smallest element in an image.

    RGB VGA Connection

    • VGA technology is accessed between devices, such as computers and monitors, via a VGA connector, or cable with a 15-pin plug and socket. VGA connectors carry analog signals. Analog, or continuous signals, offer a higher density than digital signals, resulting in higher signal resolution. This resolution enables VGA connectors to support a wide range of RGB colors.
