Career & Training Development in the Military

Each branch of the military has internal career training and development programs to teach actives how to apply knowledge and skills in their service and assist them with finding careers once they become veterans. Among these branches are administration, construction, equipment repair, engineering, human resources, technology, health care, protective service, media and public affairs, transportation, vehicle and machinery fields.

  1. Specialty Employment Firms

    • The Training Center at Cape May has a Career Development for Military Personnel program. Many employment firms specialize in assisting exiting military personnel transition into civilian careers.

    TWI

    • The government's United States Army Acquisition Support Center sponsors the selective Training with Industry (TWI) program. TWI is a one-year program that counts toward service time and trains actives in the industrial world to enhance their understanding of organizational structures, technological development, civilian business policy and corporate management techniques.

    Career Development

    • After time in the military, veterans are entitled to the benefits of the G.I. Bill's career development provisions. This includes 36 months of college, technical or vocational courses, apprenticeship or job training and licensing and certification exams.
