Terminix Problems

Terminix has encountered a number of legal problems across the U.S., including alleged violations of state environmental laws and causing harmful health effects by improper use of their pesticides. In addition, many litigants have alleged Terminix never followed through on their contracted services, according to the Connecticut Attorney General website.

  1. Nature of Complaints

    • A variety of violations have been leveraged against Terminix by customers and state authorities. Terminix violations have followed a consistent pattern of complaint types filed in court by plaintiff attorneys as well as state attorney generals. The lawsuits range from filing false records, questionable business practices and misusing pesticides, to in Connecticut, engaging in "thousands of violations of state environmental laws," suggests the Connecticut Attorney General website.

    State Attorneys General

    • Many citizens who filed complaints with their local governmental consumer agencies found their only legal recourse to be officially requesting action from their state attorney general. After conducting investigations, attorneys general from New York, Kentucky, Missouri, Connecticut and others "filed actions against Terminix for deceptive practice act violations which were settled," according to the Syix website.

    Contract Deception

    • A number of Terminix clients across the nation leveled charges against the company for failure to deliver on contracted service terms, which could result in costing customers a significant amount of money. For example, Terminix customers have alleged that "Terminix never applied a complete or effective chemical barrier for termite prevention as the company was obligated to provide as long as the contracts were in force," according to the website Campbell Law.
