Several schools and companies offer marine offshore training.

Many schools, varying from universities to private companies, provide marine offshore training. One such program is the technical diploma program at the University of Louisiana -- Lafayette in Lafayette, La.

  1. General

    • The Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization (OPITO) certifies courses, such as Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET), that are taught at the Marine Safety Training Center in conjunction with Petrofac Training.

    Curriculum

    • The program offers participants an awareness and basic understanding of emergency response and safety of installations offshore. Students must demonstrate a satisfactory level of knowledge, skills and understanding in the areas of safety induction, helicopter safety and escape, sea survival, firefighting and self rescue.

    Certification

    • The Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) certificate is issued to those who successfully complete the course. It is approved by the Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization.
