Information About Ryan Airlines

Ryanair is an Irish-based airline which offers low-cost travel throughout Europe. From humble beginnings, the airline built itself into a passenger carrier which transports millions of travelers every year.

  1. History

    • Ryanair was founded by the Ryan family and began passenger flights in 1985. Within a year the company was taking on the major European airlines.

    Fleet

    • Ryanair started out using small, 15-seat planes and only running flights between Ireland and London. The company's fleet, as of November 2010, consists of 254 Boeing 737-800 planes which each have a capacity of 189 passengers.

    Destinations

    • Ryanair has flights to 27 different countries in Europe, with 160 destinations. Most of Europe's main airports receive daily flights from Ryanair, such as Rome, Madrid, Porto and Oslo.

    Price

    • Ryanair is known in Europe for its low cost fares, with the average cost per flight, as of November 2010, being about €35 (US$50).
