The Best Flashdrive

A USB flash drive

Finding the best flash drive is determined by how you want to use the flash drive and what brands you're familiar with. Since USB drives contain similar parts, the following three categories could be major factors.

  1. Physical Size

    • Although the flash drive is already portable, you might want something thin or not very long. Sony makes a thin drive called the Micro Vault, which only houses the copper USB end. PNY makes the Micro Attache, which is extremely small, with a pivoting USB portion.

    Durability

    • If you are rough on your flash drives, consider SanDisk's Titanium flash drives. The casing is made from hard metal, which can withstand hundreds of pounds of pressure. The Titanium editions also have fast transfer speeds and come in storage capacities of 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB.

    Brands

    • Stick with brands that have been making flash drives for years, like SanDisk, PNY and Sony. The prices are usually comparable to off-brands, plus you'll be getting the quality and warranty of a major company.
