Ethical Massage Practitioner Certification Program
While there are many massage parlors that allow illegal activities to be conducted by masseuses, there are also many legitimate operators. Certification by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) can be beneficial.

Studying for the NCBTMB Examinations
-
The NCBTMB offers two examinations: the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage (NCETM) and the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB). Both are available in Spanish, where permitted by state requirements.
The NCBTMB website provides a study guide and information about the examination. All of the required forms are available at the site. Each section of the examination covers six basic topics. Each exam contains 160 multiple-choice questions. An online practice examination is available.
