Mississippi Statute of Limitations of Actions on a Judgment
The statute of limitations periods for Mississippi civil cases are provided in Chapter 15 of the Mississippi code. Specifically, the statute of limitations periods for the enforcement of civil court judgments in Mississippi are described in sections 15-1-43 and 15-1-45.
-
Mississippi (Domestic) Judgments
-
Civil court judgments issued by a Mississippi court (domestic judgments) are valid for a period of seven years from the date of issuance of the judgment.
Out-of-State (Foreign) Judgments
-
So-called foreign judgments (i.e., judgments issued by another state or country) are also valid for seven years from the date of issuance of the judgment. In cases in which the judgment debtor is or was a citizen of the state of Mississippi, the statute of limitations period is three years from the date of issuance of the judgment.

Tolling Periods
-
The deadline or statute of limitations period may be extended by the amount of time that a judgment creditor has been mentally or physically incapable of handling his legal affairs. This is known as "tolling" the statute of limitations period.
