Information on homes and property is available to the public.

People interested in a recent home sale or the size of a parcel of land in Washington state can search public records on real estate property in each of Washington's 39 counties. Available information includes recorded documents, owners' names, lot sizes and tax amounts.

  1. Basic Property Information

    • The local county website is the best resource for the public to learn basic information about a particular home or property in Washington. In King County, which encompasses Seattle and Bellevue, online searches can find property facts using the street address or tax identification number. Total square footage of the home and lot, year built and number of bedrooms and bathrooms are a few of the facts available on King County's site.

    Recent Sales

    • Recent property sales are typically posted on county websites within a few days of the sale's closing date. Snohomish County, which includes Everett and Edmonds, details sales on the property report the assessor and treasurer's departments maintain. The sales amount, date of sale and names of buyer and seller are all available.

    Taxes and Assessed Values

    • Many Washington counties assess properties annually for tax purposes with values assigned both to the land and improvements (structures on the land). They then determine tax amounts, based on assessed values, and publish them in county records.
