The last American manufacturer of the clothespin closed its doors in 2002, according to "American Heritage" magazine. Today, the clothespin, one of the earliest patented American inventions, is made exclusively in China. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Birch Clothespin

    • The Zhejiang Zhongtian Clothespin Factory manufactures the classic clothespin out of birch wood. The pins come in three sizes, with a metal spring holding the wooden pieces together. Zhejiang Zhongtian also makes a wooden peg clothespin, also made from birch wood.

    Pine Clothespins

    • The Zhejiang Province factory also manufactures clothespins made of pine. The pins come in two sizes, but no peg style is offered.

    Bamboo

    • The company takes advantage of the factory's proximity to a large source of bamboo to produce clothespins from that material at competitive prices.
