Definition of RCRA

RCRA stands for the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. According to Environmental, Health and Safety Online, "RCRA's primary goals are to protect human health and the environment from the potential hazards of waste disposal, to conserve energy and natural resources, to reduce the amount of waste generated, and to ensure that wastes are managed in an environmentally sound manner."
Importance of RCRA

RCRA was created to ensure that generators, transporters, and treatment, storage and disposal (TSD) facilities comply with federal laws in how they generate, manage and dispose of hazardous waste. Failure to comply with RCRA regulations can result in substantial fines and other punitive penalties for your company.

RCRA Training

In order to satisfy RCRA training requirements, workers at generators, transporters and TSDs must complete an annual training course that reviews the various aspects of the law and how to comply with it. This training can be completed either online or through various approved facilities throughout the nation. RCRA training requirements are explained on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) website.
