Safety in Roofing
Whenever you perform roofing work, the main consideration is your safety. There are actions you can take to ensure your safety, as well as the safety of the tools you use. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Weather Concerns
-
Do not venture onto a roof when there is frost on the roof or when it is raining, snowing or windy. Wait until the weather clears. It is very easy to lose your footing and slip on a roof, especially one that has a steep pitch or slope. This risk is elevated when the roof is wet.
Safety Devices
-
There are a number of safety devices to choose from while performing roofing work. These include roof jacks, which provide protection from you or your tools sliding down and off the roof. Catch platforms, safety harnesses and crawling boards also provide protection while you work on the roof. Also, wear rubber-soled shoes or boots, as opposed to leather-soled footwear, to provide better traction.

Clutter Issues
-
Make sure to keep tools stored properly, so that the tools and their cords will not be tripped over. Frequently sweep up any debris and dust from the roof.
