-
The state has more than 100 licensed DUI programs. At the start of the program, the driver takes an assessment test given by a state-certified DUI assessor to measure the level of the offender's substance abuse problems. The World Health Organization developed the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test as a screening method for excessive drinking. The assessor then determines the appropriate level of care the driver needs to address his problems. A person may be referred to outpatient, intensive outpatient, or residential treatment. Sometimes an educational intervention is included with treatment.
