Rosenborg Castle

Rosenborg Castle, an example of Dutch Renaissance architecture, was built in 1606 during the reign of King Christian IV. The royal family of Denmark lived in the castle, which was originally designed to be merely a summer home, until the early 1700s. Rosenborg castle is comprised primarily of red bricks.
The King's Garden

The King's Garden -- Kongens Have -- is Denmark's oldest royal garden, commissioned by King Christian IV before the castle itself was constructed. Roses bloom in the gardens mostly in the summertime. Inside the garden, there are beautiful statues, including one of Hans Christian Anderson and one of Queen Caroline Amalie.

Currently, Rosenborg Castle houses a museum of royal artifacts, including items from the 16th through 19th centuries. The Danish Crown Jewels and Danish Crown Regalia are both exhibited inside the castle museum. Visitors can also dine inside the castle's Traktørstedet Cafe.
