The ingredients used in sugar soap include soap in bar or liquid form, sugar and oil. White or brown sugar can be used for soap making; turbinado, or raw sugar, is a favorite as well. The oil used to make sugar soap can be olive, canola, coconut, or a more exotic blend; any skin-safe oil can be used.
Making Sugar Soap

There are two ways to prepare sugar soap. You can create a liquid soap scrub by combining equal parts sugar, liquid soap, and olive oil; or you can make soap bars using a milled soap technique. Milled soap is made by grating a bar of soap, adding liquid and other ingredients, then pouring into a mold to dry. Liquid sugar soap makes a body scrub, and should be used soon after preparing. Milled soap bars last much longer and have more uses.

Use liquid sugar soap as a hand scrub to dissolve oily or sticky residues like motor oil or sap. You can also use liquid sugar soap as a softening body scrub. Tip: This is US 'sugar soap' ie soap with sugar in it, not the "Sugar Soap" industrial cleaner used in most of the commonwealth, made of sodium carbonate, sodium phosphate, and sometimes sodium silicate. Don't get the two confused!
