A schematic is a symbolic representation of an electronic circuit. Learning schematics is just like learning any other symbolic language. You have to know what each symbol means and you have to know the rules for properly utilizing each symbol.

An electronics background is not necessary for learning schematics, but it is recommended. Becoming familiar with the basic electronic concepts of power sources, connections, resistance, capacitance and inductance will aid in the learning process.
