    • Fred DeLuca founded SUBWAY in 1965 when he was 17-years-old, along with Dr. Peter Buck. The first SUBWAY was called Pete's Super Submarines and was located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. By 1974, DeLuca and Dr. Buck operated 16 restaurants, all in Connecticut. They then began franchising the company to facilitate further growth.
