Beekeepers can purchase colonies of bees from other apiarists or apiary farms, or from stores that sell honeybees. Bees come in packages, and it is up to the beekeeper to release the bees into a controlled environment once the package is open. Bees must be released into their hive, as opposed to out in the open.
