Some professional driving courses offer stunt driving as part of the curricula.

Professional driving training involves several areas of instruction to facilitate the needs of civilian drivers, stunt drivers, and law enforcement and security personnel. Many programs also offer specific courses to accommodate the requirements of specific applications within the driving industry, such as offensive driving.

  1. Scope

    • Professional driving training consists of practical study in the control of vehicle dynamics, proper hand positions for airbag deployment, pursuit driving, evasive measures, and high-speed driving and backing. Advanced instruction includes subject matter, such as convoy driving, pit maneuvers, attack scenarios, passenger-side driving, car-to-car weaponry, ramming techniques, and forward and reverse 180's.

    Duration

    • Program length depends on the topics covered and its comprehensiveness. For instance, the law enforcement driving course from Bobby Ore Motorsports lasts two weeks, whereas the advanced driver training session from Smith Systems lasts one day.

    Cost

    • Training costs vary with the program type and its location. For instance, the cost of the counter-terrorism driving program from Bobby Ore Motorsports is calculated by number of students and whether the training is on-site. Other programs, such as the advanced driver training offered by Smith Motorsports, is performed at various U.S. locations and costs $390, as of October, 2010.
