What Does CNTG/KO Mean?

What Does CNTG/KO Mean? thumbnail
Real estate can be confusing enough when plain language is used.

Real estate listings can be confusing, often filled with unnecessary buzzwords and jargon that can make the uninitiated feel very lost. Nonsense abbreviations like CNTG/KO may be the worst offenders.

  1. CNTG/KO

    • This stands for "Contingent With Kick Out." It means that the seller accepted an offer that includes at least one pending contingency. The pending contingency includes a "kick-out" clause, which means that the seller may still accept other better offers and "kick out" this current offer if the first buyer refuses to remove the contingency.

    CNTG/NO KO

    • This one means "Contingent With No Kick Out." The seller has accepted an offer that includes a contingency agreement. However, only the buyer can back out at this point because there is no kick-out clause; the seller is legally committed.

    CNTG/NKO

    • This is the same as CNTG/NO KO but you will sometimes see it written in this way. They both mean the same thing.
