What Is Computer Integrated Design & Graphics?
Computer-integrated design and graphics represents a combination of computer-aided design (CAD) or computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) and computer animation. CAD/CADD tools and methodologies make up the bulk. For this reason, CAD/CADD is virtually synonymous with computer-integrated design and graphics.
-
Identification
-
CAD/CADD offers computer-based design to tools to streamline design processes. These processes include drafting, documentation and layout for manufacturing processes. CAD/CADD output can be either an electronic file for printing or an electronic file for use in machining operations on the factory floor.
Benefits
-
As with manual drafting and engineering layouts, CAD/CADD drawings and output include materials, processes, dimensions and tolerances according to industry drawing standards and conventions. However, CAD/CADD can take advantage of computer-based accuracies and efficiencies along with its ability to link to factory machining processes.
-
Significance
-
CAD/CADD is used to manufacture many products, including automobiles, ships, airlines and military equipment. In addition, CAD/CADD plays an integral role in the production of the computer animation used in movies and other areas.
