How Should You Clean Marble Bathroom Floors?

Marble floors add a luxurious feel to a bathroom. While marble floors are porous and can be somewhat easily stained, proper cleaning and maintenance will keep them looking their best.

Importance

The porous nature of marble flooring makes it especially susceptible to dirt and stains, which can settle into the stone and become difficult to remove. Regular dusting, cleaning and stain treating is crucial to keeping the surface from becoming dull and discolored.

Cleaning Process

Before cleaning a marble floor, lightly dust the area with a dust mop or soft cloth. Then, apply a commercial marble floor cleaner to a cloth and wash the floor in a gentle, circular motion. Buff the clean floor with a dry cloth once the dirt has been removed.

Stains

Stains can settle into a marble floor quickly, so clean them up immediately after they happen. For oil-based stains, add a small amount of warm water and dishwasher detergent to a half cup of baking soda, spread over the stain and leave overnight. For plant stains, replace the dishwasher detergent with hydrogen peroxide and follow the same steps.
