Do I Need to Subscribe to TiVo?

TiVo is an interactive digital video recorder. The latest generation TiVo DVR boxes interact with cable TV, online movie rental, the Internet and music collections. It is intended to work with a paid subscription although limited functionality is possible without one.

  1. Cable

    • TiVo Premiere boxes and service plans enable online or mobile phone scheduling of 45 hours of recorded programming. TiVo replaces the cable box. Without the subscription, no smart or automatic scheduling capabilities are available. The box will only be able to fast forward, rewind, pause or slow-mo live TV.

    Movies

    • TiVo Premiere enables instant access to on-demand video stores. These stores include the top brands, Netflix, Blockbuster and Amazon. Without a subscription, this service is not available.

    Internet

    • TiVo Premiere enables access to the Internet. You Tube and other online videos can be streamed and websites can be surfed with a Premiere TiVo subscription.

    Music

    • TiVo Premiere enables access to music libraries for user computers. It also allows the streaming of web-based services like Pandora and Rhapsody. Without a subscription, these services are not available.
