  1. Physical Description

    • The areca palm produces multiple trunks that grow in a clump from the base of the tree. Each trunk is topped with yellowish-green palm fronds. The shape of the areca palm makes it a popular specimen tree in tropical and subtropical climates.

    • The areca palm is a multi-trunked tree that is considered to be low maintenance. The trunks produced by this plant are resistant to breakage from wind and weather conditions.

    Growth

    • The areca palm tree matures to a height of 20 to 30 feet. Because of the multiple trunks produced, this tree can grow 8 to 10 feet wide. The areca palm has a fast growth rate, growing in excess of 30 inches annually.
