Train Travel to South Carolina

Train travel is a great way to see the country.

Train service to South Carolina is run primarily through the cross-continental lines of Amtrak. South Carolina has eleven Amtrak stops, and three routes which service or pass through those stops.

The Crescent

The Crescent is one of three Amtrak routes which services the state of South Carolina. The Crescent runs from New York to New Orleans, traversing the Appalachia region and terminating at either the Gulf of Mexico or the North Atlantic. It has three stops in South Carolina, Spartanburg, Greenville, and Clemson.

The Auto Train

The Auto Train is a southern coastal line which runs between Lorton, Virginia, and Sanford, Florida. Though it does not stop at any place between, it does travel through South Carolina, and offers stunning views of the countryside. The Auto Train line has the distinction of carrying your car from place to place.

The Silver Service/Palmetto

The Silver Service/Palmetto runs from New York City to Miami, Florida, connecting all the major mid-Atlantic cities to southern metropolises and stopping at five South Carolina stations along the way. These stations are Dillon, Florence, Kingstree, North Charleston, and Yemassee.
