Some of the tallest tropical plants are cultivated for growing fruit. The largest varieties of banana plants can reach up to 12 feet, according to the University of Florida.

One of the rarest tropical plants is the titan arum, native to the rocky hills of Sumatra in Indonesia. The titan arum's flower can grow up to 10 feet itself. It is also known for its horrible smell which it uses to attract bees to feed on its pollen.
