Routers allow you to create a network of computers.

The Netgear N300 Wireless Router allows you to connect up to four wired devices and an unlimited number of wireless devices to one network. The N300 may display a model number of WNR2000 on the label.

  1. Wired Connections

    • The router has four wired connection ports supporting 10/100 port speeds, in addition to one WAN port, which can be used to connect another computer. The WAN is more often used to connect to a broadband Internet connection for shared access.

    Wireless Connections

    • The N300 supports wireless connections using 802.11 b, g or n technology in the 2.4 GHz range. Secured wireless connections are possible using WPA/WPA2 or WEP technologies. Using secured connections reduces the likelihood of unauthorized connections to the router.

    System Requirements

    • The router itself does not require a specific operating system. The software that comes with the router can be installed on Microsoft operating systems, including Windows 7, Vista, XP and 2000. The router also is compatible with Unix and Linux operating systems. An Internet browser is required.
