Online Medical Billing Coding Transcription & Medicare Training
In medical offices across the country, medical assistants and other office staff are required to understand medical billing, coding, transcription, and Medicare. To obtain positions in this field, it's necessary to become trained, a process that can be completed online.
-
Medical Terminology
-
One of the first things you'll need to study for any coding, transcription, or Medicare class is medical terminology. You'll get a basic understanding of the different terms doctors and nurses use on their charts to be able to code them efficiently later on. This does not mean that you'll be learning about specific illnesses, simply the terms that describe them.
Coding Practice
-
Once you learn how to use a coding software, as well as how to read medical charts, most programs will ask you to practice coding by giving you either false charts or old charts that have personal information removed. To take advantage of your training course, you should complete each coding practice, as it will help you with your job search.

Degrees
-
There are generally two options for your online medical billing and coding training: a diploma/certificate or an associate's degree. The former course of study is ideal if you who want the basic level of study required to become eligible for a job in this field. The latter will make you more attractive in the medical field, particularly if you want to advance to other positions like office manager or department head.
