UTorrent Download Speed Problems
uTorrent is a Bit Torrent client. After it is properly installed and set up, use the program as a fast and reliable way to transfer large files. The setup can require more than general computer knowledge, depending on your operating system and Internet service provider (ISP).
-
Upload Speed
-
Though it sounds counterintuitive, the settings you use for upload speed can impact the download speed you receive because Internet service providers allocate less bandwidth for uploads. uTorrent comes with a utility that automatically adjusts the upload limit. Click "Options" in the menu bar of the uTorrent window and select "Setup Guide." Click "Run Tests" in the window that appears. The uTorrent program will optimize upload and download limits.
Protocol Encryption
-
Your ISP may limit or slow transfer of data recognized as Bit Torrent traffic. uTorrent includes an encryption utility that disguises the data it is transferring. Click "Options" and "Preferences." Select the "Bit Torrent" tab. Switch the box next to "Protocol Encryption" to "Enable." Place a check in the box next to "Allow Incoming Legacy Connections."
-
Windows Firewall
-
Windows Firewall can slow downloads through uTorrent. Allow uTorrent downloads through your firewall by clicking "Options" and "Preferences. Select the "Connection" tab. Ensure the box next to "Add uTorrent to Windows Firewall" says "Enabled."
