The five raw fruits that contain the most amount of water are strawberries, watermelons, cantaloupes, grapefruits and apples — all containing more than 90 percent of their weight in water. The fruit with the least amount of water is a banana which contains 74 percent water.
Water in Vegetables
The five raw vegetables that contain the most amount of water are celery, iceberg lettuce, green cabbage, eggplant, spinach, zucchini and broccoli — all containing more than 90 percent of their weight in water. The vegetables with the least amount of water are white potatoes which contain 79 percent water.
The body needs about two quarts of water per day, depending on your environment, activity level and nutrition. Eating fruits and vegetables helps you to consume your daily supply of water and also provides you with necessary nutrients.
