The earning potential of a realtor depends on her duties, the area market and how much she works. The term "realtor" can describe either a real estate sales agent or a broker who buys and sells any type of real estate.

Real Estate Brokers

  • According to the US Department of Labor, the average real estate broker in Ohio had an hourly mean wage of $39.31 and an annual mean wage of $81,760 as of May 2009. The lowest 10 percent of brokers made $13.24 an hour and $27,530 a year, while the highest 10 percent of brokers made more than $80 an hour and $166,400 a year.

Real Estate Sales Agents

  • As of May 2009, the average real estate sales agent in Ohio had an hourly mean wage of $23.66 and an annual mean wage of $49,220. The lowest 10 percent of agents made $10.05 an hour and $20,900 a year, while the highest ten percent of brokers made $44.96 an hour and $93,520 a year.

Combined Averages

  • Averaging the wages of 750 real estate brokers and 2,420 real estate sales agents in Ohio, the average hourly wage was $27.36 and the average annual wage was $56,918.74 as of May 2009.
