How do I Knot Braclets? thumbnail
The different methods of making knotted bracelets all create different results.

Knotted bracelets are also known as friendship bracelets. The idea is to make and swap bracelets with your friends, and wear them until they fall off. They are quick and simple to make, requiring very few materials.

  1. Requirements

    • You can use pretty much any type of string for making friendship bracelets. Waxed thread and crochet thread are ideal, and hemp thread is now available in most craft shops.

    Method

    • This simple method of knotting is created by cutting four lengths of cord to about one yard, and knotting them all together at one end. The cord on the far left (A) and far right (B) of the group are separated from the two centre cords. The end of cord A is lifted over the centre cords, and under cord B. This half knot is pulled up to the main knot at the top, and then this is repeated on cord B. That method is then repeated over and over until there is a small amount of cord left to knot at the end.

    Tips

    • Consider using different color cords, the more cords you use the more interesting the design will appear. When you have mastered this simple method of knotting, try more intricate knotting techniques.
