Types
-
Small kits marketed as cat grass are actually wheat grass, oat grass, fescue grass or Japanese millet grass. All of these types grow to about 3 inches in height in one to two weeks.
Advantages
-
Cat should not be allowed to eat outdoor grass because it could be contaminated with pesticides, fertilizers, spilled automotive chemicals or parasites. Growing cat grass indoors gives cats or other grass-eating pets a safe snack.

Warning
-
Cat grass can make cats vomit. Do not leave the grass where a cat can get at it all of the time. Never offer cat grass to cats immediately after they have eaten a meal or they will vomit.
