Computer-based HVAC training involves learning the principles of fan operation.

Computer-based heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) training involves instruction in the diagnostics, repair and maintenance of climate control systems. Several accredited schools and organizations provide HVAC training in an online format.

  1. Scope

    • HVAC training involves instruction in several areas of the heating and cooling industry, such as the preparation of HVAC equipment foundation bases, how to anchor equipment in concrete and how to measure refrigerant temperature and relative humidity. The student also learns about HVAC maintenance, including how to clean coils, fans and registers. Programs also include study in the management of electric components, such as testing circuits for continuity, measuring voltage and making electrical connections.

    Duration

    • Program length varies with the depth of instruction and the training organization's requirements. However, a comprehensive online HVAC core technician training program commonly lasts 320 hours.

    Cost

    • Program costs differ among schools and programs, but a representative intensive online HVAC technician training program costs $698 as of October 2010.
