Backpacking allows you to explore Balinese culture as well as enjoy the beaches.

Bali is a tropical island in Indonesia, which is renowned for its beautiful landscapes. You can choose to explore the island at your own pace, or join a guided backpackers' tour. These organized treks enable you to take part in authentic village activities, including cooking and farming.

  1. Food and Accommodation

    • Bali has numerous inexpensive accommodation options for backpackers, both in coastal areas and in the cities. These include hostels, bed and breakfast accommodation, or lodging with a local family. Low-cost meals are available from small restaurants known as "warungs," and fresh produce can be bought from street stalls.

Bali is accessible by air via Ngurah Rai International Airport, or by sea from Java or Lombok. The cheapest way to get around the island is to walk, which also has the benefit of allowing you to get close to nature. Local bus services, such as the Perama company, will transport you from place to place cheaply, or there is the "ojek" system, where motorcyclists carry you on the back of their bikes for a small fee.
