Individuals interested in obtaining a commercial driver's license (CDL) in Minnesota will have to go through a series of tests before hitting the road.

The basic controls test is meant to evaluate the driver's ability to control the vehicle. This includes three parts: straight backing, offset backing and alley dock backing.
