A two-compartment sink fails to satisfy most health codes.

Most local health codes require three-compartment sinks for food establishments. Dishes should be washed in warm, soapy water in the first compartment, rinsed in clear water in compartment two and dipped into a chlorine-based sanitizing solution in the third compartment. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Prepare the Countertop

    • Determine the desired sink location on the countertop. Mark the sink outline for cutting. Cut the sink opening into the counter.

    Prepare the Sink

    • Install the selected faucet assembly into the sink. Attach and set the sink strainer in each drain.

    Set Sink

    • Turn the sink upside down and apply a bead of silicone caulk. Place the sink in the precut hole. Make any necessary adjustments.

    Connections

    • Use PVC pieces to construct the drains.

      Connect the faucets to the water supply. Measure drain connections and make any necessary adjustments. Connect the two outside drains to the center drain. Tie the center drain into the pea trap assembly.
