Canon SD600 Memory Card Errors

Memory cards can fail at any time.

The Canon SD600 is a 6.0 megapixel camera, also called the Canon Digital IXUS 60 or Canon IXY Digital 70, which uses SD/MMC cards. If you have inserted a memory card and your camera says there are memory card errors you can try to resolve the problem yourself.

User Error

Restarting the camera often resolves internal problems. If the camera still shows a memory error, reinsert the card and close the door securely. Incorrectly inserted cards, or cards not making a contact because the door isn't closed properly, will not work.

Damaged Cards

The card may be dirty or damaged. Turn off the camera and remove the card. Check the card for damage such as bent contacts, scratches or discoloration. You can also blow the memory card slot out with canned air.

Defective Cards

Reformatting the card while it is in the camera may resolve the problem. Reformatting will erase all existing data. If the card is still not working insert a new card. If the new card works than the other card is probably damaged and you will need to throw it away.
