Surfing in Lincoln City, Oregon

Lincoln City surfing conditions are varied.

Located on Oregon's Pacific coast, Lincoln City has a 7-mile stretch of sandy beaches and variable surfing conditions. Other recommended beach activities on this stretch of coastline are whale and storm watching.

Surf Spots

According to Surfline, Lincoln City offers a limited surfing experience. Most of coast is beachbreak that can only be surfed when small and clean. The most popular surf spots are Road's End and Salmon Rivermouth at the north end of the city. Boiler Bay is another frequently surfed area despite its rockiness.

Bring a shortboard to surf here. Described by Surfline as "a right hand tube that grinds along the perimeter of a wide, flat shelf with truckloads of rocks and currents," experts warn that this is an easy place to have an accident. Surfers are advised to wear a leash when riding the surf. This location is not for beginners.

General Conditions

Summer and fall are the best seasons for surfing in Lincoln City. The best swell direction is west and the general swell size is head high. Low tide is recommended for a smaller swell size. Equipment is available at Lincoln City's surf shops such as Oregon Surf Shop, the oldest surf shop on the coast.
