Ford 460 EFI F250 Specifications

The 1997 model year is the last time Ford offered their heavy-duty F-250 pickup truck with a 460-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) engine. The engine was optional on the F-250 XL HD regular cab and SuperCab long bed. The 7.5-liter V-8 was the standard power plant in the F-250 XL HD SuperCab short bed and Crew Cab.
Engine Specifications
When new, the 7.5-liter V-8 had 16 valves, a compression ratio of 8.5-to-1, a 3.85-inch stroke and a 4.36-inch bore. The gasoline engine produces 245 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 400 pound-feet of torque at 2,200 rpm. The engine is in both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive F-250s.
Towing and Payload
The 7.5-liter engine helps the F-250 tow up to a maximum 10,000 pounds. The standard towing capacity varies by model and is between 6,000 pounds. and 6,500 pounds. Payload capacity is between 3,070 and 3,835 pounds, depending on the model.
Weight
The 1997 F-250s, with the 7.5-liter engine, are the heaviest models available. Depending on the model and options, the 7.5-liter F-250s have a curb weight between 4,677 and 5,749 pounds. The gross vehicle weight rating is 8,600 pounds for the XL HD regular cab models and 8,800 pounds for every other 7.5-liter model.
Bed Lengths
The 7.5-liter Ford F-250s come in two bed lengths. The XL HD regular cab and Super Cab long bed have a 98.2-inch bed length. The F-250 XL HD Super Cab short bed and Crew Cab have a bed length of 82 inches.
