Invitations may be handwritten, printed or sent electronically.

If you're going to host a party, you've done a lot of planning in your mind as to the essentials of the party. However, a party just isn't a party unless you have lively guests, and they won't know about the party without an invitation. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Stats

    • Guests need to know pertinent things such as "when" and "where" the party will occur to be able to arrive on time and in the correct location. Be sure to include an RSVP date so that you can plan accordingly for the number of guests.

    Purpose

    • Alert your guests as to the purpose of the party. If the party is for someone's birthday or a baby shower, guests may want to bring presents, and might feel awkward if they came empty-handed. Conversely, indicate on the invitation "no gifts" if that is wanted.

    Considerations

    • If the party will have special activities, such as dancing or swimming, note this on the invitation so that guests can dress appropriately or bring a change of clothes with them.

    Supplies

    • Consider the overall theme of the event when selecting stationery, and create an invitation that matches it. For instance, a baby shower invitation may feature a baby bottle while an engagement invitation might be decorated with an image of a diamond ring.

    Warning

    • Some guests may not read the invitation thoroughly or disregard your notes altogether. As the hostess, be prepared for some people to arrive early, or for someone to bring her child to an "adults-only" party.
