Ultrasound Service Training

Ultrasound service technicians must learn the schematics shared by all ultrasound equipment.

Ultrasound service training consists of instruction in the diagnostics, repair and maintenance of medical imaging equipment. Several trade schools, community colleges and online training organizations offer ultrasound service training.

Scope

Coursework in ultrasound service consists of training in the operation of ultrasound devices, the disassembly and reassembly of equipment and common failures that occur in such devices. Students also become familiar with ultrasound theory and physics, as well block diagram components common to all ultrasound devices. Several training organizations also offer advanced training that deals with brand-specific repair of ultrasound equipment.

Duration

Program length varies with the depth of instruction and type of ultrasound equipment being learned. Advanced ultrasound service training courses, however, commonly last five days.

Cost

Program fees vary with the training institution and program duration, but an advanced training course cost $3,000 as of October 2010.
