How Do I Add Memory to a Sony VAIO?

Additional RAM can boost VAIO performance.

Sony VAIO All-in-One desktop computers are low profile machines, much like their laptops. So, installing memory for VAIO laptops and All-in-One desktops is a similar process.

Safety

Shut down the computer and remove all possible power sources. Make sure you are touching an unpainted metal surface inside the computer whenever the cover is open.

Preparation

Unscrew the memory access panel on the bottom of VAIO laptops to access the RAM modules. Remove the back from VAIO All-in-One desktops, then unscrew the memory compartment cover.

Procedure

Remove old memory by disengaging the side latches and tilting and pulling the modules out. Install memory modules by sliding them into the memory slot and pushing until they click into place.
