The Polaris Xplorer 500 is an all-terrain vehicle (ATV). It is the largest of Polaris' Xplorer series of ATVs. The vehicles are intended to be used as work vehicles and have towing and work capabilities to match.

  1. Engine

    • This ATV features a 499 cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve, four-stroke engine with a dry sump lubrication system. It had an electric starter with recoil backup. Its transmission is an automatic Polaris Variable Transmission (PVT) with E-Z shift high/low and reverse.

    Brakes and Suspension

    • The Polaris Xplorer 500 features single-lever hydraulic disc brakes with a mechanical auxiliary foot brake. It has a MacPherson strut front suspension with 6.25 inches of travel and a progressive-rate, fully independent rear suspension with an anti-roll bar and 9.4 inches of travel.

    Dimensions and Capacities

    • This 4X4 vehicle has a wheelbase length of 50.5 inches and is 81 inches long, 46 inches wide and 47 inches high. It has a dry weight of 649 lbs. It has a front load capacity of 90 lbs., a rear load capacity of 180 lbs., a hitch capacity of 30 lbs. and a towing capacity of 850 lbs.

    Other Features

    • The Polaris Xplorer 500 has two 35-Watt halogen headlights with high and low beams. It has a fuel capacity of 5.25 gallons, an oil capacity of 2 qts. and a coolant capacity of 2.25 qts.
