Luggage must be carefully loaded to ensure the safety of the flight.

According to its website, US Airways and its associate companies operate more than 3,100 flights per day. Strict luggage policies are essential for security, economic concerns, and to ensure that aircraft are not overloaded. In addition to its own regulations, US Airways must also enforce federal baggage regulations.

  1. Fees

    • Baggage fees are charged for each piece of checked luggage. For flights booked after Oct. 1, 2010, the fee is $25 for the first bag, $35 for the second bag and $100 for the third and each additional bag. For flights to and from Europe, the Middle East and South America the first bag is free and for flights to the Middle East and South America the second bag is also free. In addition, excess baggage fees are charged for each bag over 51 pounds.

    Carry-On

    • Each passenger is allowed one personal item such as a purse or laptop and one bag up to 40 pounds in weight and with dimensions no bigger than 22 inches wide by 14 inches high and nine inches deep.

    Additional Items

    • Passengers with medical conditions may also carry medical equipment and supplies onboard and passengers with babies or toddlers may carry strollers or car seats aboard.
