Software for Windows CE

There is a massive amount of software that is available for the Windows CE (also known as Windows Embedded Compact) operating system, all of which focus on a specific area of interest.

Software

There is software in nearly every computing category that is available for Windows CE, including utility software, recovery software, security software, music and media software, download managers, games, administration software and many more. PocketChess (free to use), ICQ for Windows CE (free to use), GigaBar (free to use) and UninstallerQuick (Trial, $37 to buy, as of 2010) are just a few types of software that are available for Windows CE. Key Features

PocketChess provides users with a full-featured chess experience on their mobile devices. ICQ for Windows CE is a chat program that allows users to communicate with people worldwide. GigaBar is designed to liven up your mobile device with customizable skins and schemes. It also allows users to easily close running programs, launch programs and more. UninstallerQuick allows users to uninstall programs that are not able to be removed by the "Add/Remove Programs" function that comes with Windows CE, as well as clean-up registry entries for the program.

Download Details

All of the aforementioned software is available for the Windows CE operating system, however, some of the software has additional requirements for installation. PocketChess requires that users have a PalmPC with an MIPS processor and OS 2.0. ICQ for Windows CE requires that users have a Windows CE Handheld. As expected with mobile software, each of the software has a very small download size, ranging from 170 KB (kilobytes) to 965 KB.
