    • Pastry chefs specialize in making breads. Those who are just starting out can earn a median yearly salary between $24,630 and $40,434, according to PayScale data from October 2010.

    Sous Chefs' Salaries

    • Sous chefs work with executive chefs and are in charge when the executive chef is not available. Sous Chefs with less than a year of experience can earn between $19,653 and $41,116, according to PayScale in 2010.

    Assistant Chefs' Salaries

    • Assistant chefs work with the head chef by preparing menus and dishes to compliment the entrees. PayScale data from October 2010, show that assistant chefs with less than five years of experience earn a median salary of $24,13 to $35,781 yearly.

    Sushi Chefs Salaries

    • Sushi chefs specialize in Japanese cuisine and start earning a median yearly salary between $28,554 and $39,168, when on the job for less than five years. These figures are from October 2010 PayScale data.

    Executive Chefs' Salaries

    • Executive chefs are experienced in all aspects of running a kitchen including staff management. According to PayScale, a chef who has been in this position for less than a year earns a median salary is $29,163 to $49,546 as of October 2010.
