Airport Security Guidelines for Ziploc Bags

Airport Security Guidelines for Ziploc Bags thumbnail
There are certain rules for carry-on items for flights.

Due to some of the recent terrorist situations involving airlines and other travel situations, more stringent rules have been created for those who plan to travel. For example, a few new guidelines involve bags and what must be bagged.

  1. Rules

    • All aerosols, liquids and gels must be packed in clear plastic zip-style bags. The bag must be quart-size or smaller and the containers in the bag must be 100 ml or smaller.

    Quantity

    • Travelers are allowed only one of the quart-sized plastic bags in addition to carry-on luggage. All other liquids, gels or aerosols must be placed in checked luggage, not carry-on.

    Exceptions

    • With proper permission from a TSA authority figure, certain medications, baby formulas, baby foods and breast milk are allowed to be part of carry-on luggage exceeding 100 ml and are not required to be in the one allowed zip-style bag.
