Cruise Alcohol Policies

Each cruise line has strict policies regarding alcoholic beverages on board.

Though every cruise line has their own policies regarding alcohol, most of the general policies are the same. Cruise lines have a strict policy about the consumption of alcohol and bringing alcohol aboard.

Age Restrictions

Every cruise lines adheres to the age limit in the United States regarding the consumption of alcohol. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to consume alcohol while on board. Some ships traveling to countries where the drinking age is 18 may allow, with written parent consent, the guest to drink if they are above 18-years-old but below 21 years of age.

Personal Stock

Guests are typically not allowed to bring alcoholic beverages with them at the time of embarkation. Some cruise lines allow guests to bring one bottle of wine or champagne per person, but may charge a corkage fee if consumed in the dining room.

Purchases En Route

Most cruise lines do allow the purchase of alcohol at ports of call and in the ship's gift shop. However, guests are not allowed to consume these beverages and they will be stored by the ship's staff and returned at the end of the trip.
