You may be fingerprinted when you take the GRE.

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is an important standardized test used by many colleges and universities to evaluate applications. When taking the test, you must present valid identification to prove that you are in fact the individual you claim to be.

  1. Criteria

    • All identification must have your name, your signature, and a photograph. They must be currently valid, with the exception of an expired driver's license, which may be used if you also bring along a a valid renewal certificate. A temporary driver's license is also acceptable, but it must be accompanied with another proof of identification. The photograph must be current and recognizable, and all documents must be original. No copies will be accepted.

    Examples

    • Acceptable ID would include a driver's license, temporary resident card ("green card"), passport, or other state-issued ID.

    • You may be required to submit to additional confirmation of your identity on the day of the test, including videotaping, photographing and fingerprinting. If you refuse to have your identity confirmed, you will not be permitted to sit for the test, and you will not receive a refund of the test fee.
